  • Blade: 440C high chromium stainless steel, hardened and tempered to 59HRC, mirror polished, hand-engraved
  • Bolsters, Fittings: 304 Austenitic Stainless Steel, mirror polished, hand-engraved

  • Sheath: Kydex, 304 Stainless Steel
  • Knife: The Consus is named for the Roman god of grain and food storage, and this one was custom made for a prodigy chef to his specifications and unique design criteria. The deep hollow grind means a very thin cutting edge with a razor-thin point for piercing an reaching into tight places. The 440C is a highly corrosion resistant martensitic stainless steel, and is tough and durable and wear resistant as well. I've engraved my client's design on the blade, an organic, wandering young vine motif with a natural, relaxed appeal. I've hardened and tempered the knife to a durable 59HRC. The engraving extends to the 304 high nickel, high chromium stainless steel bolsters and these are dovetailed and bed a pair of beautiful and bookmatched lace amethyst gemstone handle scales. The gem is tough and beautiful, with deep clarity in agate transparency, and a tremendous amount of visual interest in intricate detail that draws in the eye for closer inspection. The tang is clean smooth and polished for easy maintenance and comfort, fully tapered for balance, and the knife feels light and quick in the hand.
  • Sheath: For long lasting protection when not in use, the Consus has a kydex tension fit sheath to protect the edge and protect other objects from the cutting edge. I made it in double thickness kydex, with kydex welts so the blade will never contact metal, and it's bonded with waterproof cement and secured with nine 304 stainless steel Chicago screws, polished and beautiful for easy cleaning.
  • A unique, striking, and useful custom paring knife for a very special client

Thanks, U. M.!
